Höpken School(description of this school does not differ from the Eisen sourcebook). Country of Origin: Eisen Guild Sanctioned: No. Instead students gain a free rank in one of their Swordsman Knacks. Basic Curriculum: Crossbow, Soldier Swordsman Knacks: Arc (Crossbow), Reload (Crossbow), Exploit Weakness (Crossbow) [See du Ponte], Exploit Weakness (Dracheneisen) [See Below] (Note: The Reload (Crossbow) knack is considered a basic knack to Höpken bowmen) Apprentice: Höpken students are trained to only fire when the best possible shot is available, and can spend much longer than untrained soldiers aiming their crossbows. For each Mastery Level, you may spend an additional action aiming and still gain a benefit from it. Thus, a Master of Höpken can spend four actions aiming, and add +4k0 to his next attack's damage roll, should it strike true. Journeyman: With a finer understanding of leading the target during field combat, you are capable of adding bonuses due to actions spent aiming to your next attack roll, instead of it's damage. In addition, you have advanced enough to build a crossbow in the style of Adrian Höpken's own. It costs 5,000 Guilders and takes a fortnight to refine, but once finished, any time it strikes a victim they suffer an additional Dramatic Wound for each 15 points they miss their Wound Check by. Anyone whose Brawn is less than 4 attempting to reload this crossbow must use a special winch requiring 3 additional actions to reload. Master: A master of Höpken school has perfected his aim. All bonuses from actions spent aiming become kept die bonuses. Additionally you may raise your Reload (Crossbow) to rank 6 at a cost of 25 experience, allowing you to load and fire in a single Action. Exploit Weakness (Dracheneisen) - Through careful study of the common placing of joints and straps on suits of Dracheneisen armor, as well as experience with weaknesses in the mystic metal itself, you are capable of circumventing even an Eisen warlord's defenses. For each point in this knack, roll attacks and damage as though the target were wearing 3 points less Dracheneisen (thereby reducing any benefits it may bring). Last updated:
